RockyMounts TieRod Roof Bike Rack Review - 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander

Today on our 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander we'll be test fitting the RockyMounts TieRod Roof Mounted Bike Carrier, part number rky1014. To begin our test fit we'll go ahead and place our carrier on top of our load bars. We'll bring around the rubber coated steel straps to the front, fit them into position and then use the Allen key to secure the front part our carrier to the front load bar. Then we want to move to the rear and fit our bracket around our rear load bar. Then we use the wing nuts to tighten down that bracket and secure our rear part of the carrier to our rear load bar. Now we need to go ahead and make sure the skewer at the front of the carrier is open and that the rear strap at the rear is open as well. We'll grab our bike, place it into the wheel cradle and drop the front fork down into the skewer. We'll secure first by tightening the skewer and then we'll move to the rear of the carrier and use the wheel strap to tighten our real wheel. more

Now our vehicle has already been outfitted with our Yakima roof rack system and were going to install our bicycle carrier already assembled according to instructions. So it is just a matter of installing it on our roof rack. We will go ahead and open up the clamp. For the first crossbar, go through the front. We will put that in place and then slide our second clamp into place for the cross bar in the back. Once we have had it located on the bars, we will make sure that they are secure on the vehicle roof rack. We can then go ahead and tighten them down. more
